Practical

This event is open to all CERN access card holders, including retirees, temporary personnel, contractors’ personnel and club members, who can register themselves and one guest who is not eligible for a CERN access card. Members of the personnel, including Users and all other categories of associated members, as well as Pension Fund beneficiaries, may in addition register family members who currently hold or are eligible for a CERN family access card (i.e. spouses, registered partners and dependent children).

Note that food and drink will be available at the event free of charge, in exchange for vouchers. You will need to collect these vouchers in the days leading up to the event. After completing your registration on Indico, you will receive a QR code that you can use to retrieve the vouchers. Vouchers’ distribution days and locations.

Exceptionally, gates A, B, C, and E will be open in both directions from 05:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Anyone with a valid CERN card will be able to use them, regardless of their status (staff, contractor, family, retiree, external, holders of a CERN70 guest access card, etc.). 

Gate A will be reserved exclusively for pedestrians.
Gate C is recommended for vehicles coming from Switzerland.
Gate E is recommended for vehicles coming from France.

Priority access to Restaurant 1 and its annex will be given to individuals with specific needs or vulnerabilities.

Access to Building 40 will be reserved for emergency services.

Parking

Due to limited parking at Meyrin, we encourage you to park at the Prévessin site. 

Please follow the instructions of security agents and parking signs. 

A free CERN70 shuttle service will be available between Prévessin and Meyrin. Please refer to the “Coming to the event” section for further details.

The CERN70 Community Event proudly supports European Mobility Week 2024! Take advantage of the many alternative transport options on offer to join in CERN70 celebrations’ Community Event on 17 September car free! 

While you can use your usual mode of transportation, we encourage soft mobility for this event: 

A dedicated CERN70 shuttle service will be available from the Prévessin site, where parking spaces have been reserved for your convenience. Hop on one of the CERN70 shuttle buses to the Meyrin site.

Gate A will be reserved for pedestrians.
